THE CALL - ABOVE AND BEYOND - from Sunday, May 27, 2018

Picture
An alarming vision from above and beyond during worship leads to sacred calling for Isaiah, and Jesus goes above and beyond the traditional bounds of thinking, confusing a leader of tradition. Two great stories push believers into new dimensions of thought and understanding. Take the journey in the sermon video by clicking the video panel below.

THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT

Pentecost - the coming of the Holy Spirit! But wait ... it's been around from the beginning, hasn't it? So we briefly look at the gifts of the Spirit and the fruits of the Spirit ... and toss those lukewarm lists aside.

[Also, this picture, another entry into the worst biblical art contest - candle-heads for Jesus on Pentecost! Lord, Lord, please help us!]

Instead, we go to Isaiah 61 - "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me" - and then look at Acts 2 at what was happening among the earliest believers after Pentecost to see what the Spirit was causing to happen.

What's the power of the Holy Spirit? Watch the sermon video below and find out.

SANCTIFIED AND SENT - from Sunday, May 13, 2018

Jesus prays for his followers just before his arrest in John 17. Jesus asks God to sanctify them. He admits that they are like him, of the word, not of the world, and therefore they, too, will be hated by the world.  Why? And how are we doing with that?

In Acts 1, the disciples (to become apostles) have been reduced from "the Twelve" to just eleven due to Judas's betrayal. Their number reflects their brokenness as a group. If they're to move forward, they need to address their brokenness. What to do and how to do it?
