In Isaiah 64, we hear the prophet repeat his prayer request for God to "come [on] down." Like Bob Barker on "The Price Is Right," Isaiah wants God to start playing the game, to get involved, to make things happen. We hear the prophet voice the uncertainty of a sinful, undeserving people who nonetheless have faith in the promise of God.
In Mark 13, Jesus is answering the question about the signs of the end of the age. (Sound familiar? He was doing that last week, too - remember?) While there are dire descriptions, there is the overriding promise of God for the faithful.
