Advent is the beginning of the annual liturgical journey of faith, and started on Sunday. It is before God acts for God's people, a time of expectation and anticipation.
In Isaiah 64, we hear the prophet repeat his prayer request for God to "come [on] down." Like Bob Barker on "The Price Is Right," Isaiah wants God to start playing the game, to get involved, to make things happen. We hear the prophet voice the uncertainty of a sinful, undeserving people who nonetheless have faith in the promise of God.
In Mark 13, Jesus is answering the question about the signs of the end of the age. (Sound familiar? He was doing that last week, too - remember?) While there are dire descriptions, there is the overriding promise of God for the faithful.
As we watch and stay alert for coming of the Lord, what might we more readily observe? Something as simple as the seasonal changes in a fig tree? Find out more and check out the sermon video below, and know that the downloads are below the video panel.
Oh, and thanks for the video still, YouTube; nice pic of a raving lunatic.
