EATING FRUIT OR BEARING FRUIT - from Sunday, October 7, 2018

Bear fruit for the Kingdom! Looking at a passage from Nehemiah, we find the fruit of God's people is being eaten by the Persians. In John, Jesus teaches about the vine and the branches and the fruit to be produced. What fruit do you produce?

Nehemiah presents a confessional sermon. God's people acknowledge the faithfulness of God despite the consistent sinfulness of God's people. The suffering under foreign oppression is acute and, they admit, deserved. The abundant fruit of the Promised Land is being consumed by the Persians. God's people will pledge their faithfulness and hope that God responds.

In John's gospel, Jesus is teaching his disciples about the vine and its branches. As Jesus is the vine, so the disciples are the branches. If a branch fails to produce the fruit expected, it is removed, a useless waste destined for the fire.

What fruit is expected from disciples of Jesus? Are you clear about what is expected from you? Check it all out in the sermon video below and note the downloads available below the video panel.

This biblical teaching reminds me of the movie entitled the ultimate seven gifts. God referred to fruits as our outputs. What are we going to do in order to return his kindness to us? What fruits or things that we should do in order to become a good son of God? It was very interesting and it was really a good one to read because it applies to the reality we are facing. I hope that we can produce our fruits by doing good deeds to others.
